It also has the great advantage of being only 10 kilometres from the popular beaches of Guardamar del Segura and Torrevieja. Catral boasts breathtaking views and is close to a famous area of outstanding natural beauty – El Hondo Reservoir, which is a protected nature reserve.

Sports lovers can make the most of the rural trails in the area for walking and cycling, or drive a short distance to reach the coast and its many water sport diversions or many high quality golf courses. Services in the centre of town are plentiful and high quality, including shops, banks, many lively tavernas, medical and sports centres, and a public library
